What is Rhinoplasty?
Typically referred to as a “nose job” or “nose surgery,” rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that enhances the nose’s appearance and function. Nose surgery can be performed for aesthetic purposes, breathing difficulties, or both. To gain the best results and minimize risk of complications, Rhinoplasty requires the flawless planning, preparation, and skill only offered by an experienced plastic surgeon.
How Does Rhinoplasty Work?
The nose is constructed of bone, cartilage, and skin. Rhinoplasty can address all three of these aspects to adjust the size, shape, or even proportions of your nose. It can also repair damage from trauma, congenital disabilities, or breathing difficulties such as a deviated septum.
Depending on your aesthetic goals and your current nose structure, the shape of your bones or cartilage can be changed in various ways. Cartilage or bone from your nose, ears, or other parts of your body can be harvested to make these adjustments. After the changes have been made, the nose tissue and skin are repositioned, and the incisions are closed.
What are the Benefits of Rhinoplasty in Sarasota?
While the goal of rhinoplasty is to create facial balance and symmetry, the procedure can also:
- Repair damage from injuries
- Rectify congenital disabilities
- Correct breathing difficulties
- Adjust proportions at the bridge or nostril position
- Address visible humps or depressions
- Modify nasal tip issues, including a bulbous, drooping, upturned, hooked nose, etc.
However, perhaps the most rewarding benefit of nose surgery lies in the confidence boost that many patients enjoy after their results appear. Increased confidence and self-image can open many doors in one’s life, including better quality of life, more professional opportunities, etc. Dr. Hamwi has made it his personal mission to restore patients’ confidence with his surgical skills and artistic talent.

You’ll arrive approximately an hour before your scheduled surgery to meet with Dr. Hamwi and your certified anesthesia provider. You and Dr. Hamwi will have already decided on general or local anesthesia in your consultation and preoperative appointments.
Once you are safely anesthetized, Dr. Hamwi will begin your rhinoplasty by following the procedural plan determined during your consultation.
