Caring for Your Nose After Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

There are many reasons for selecting a non-surgical rhinoplasty over traditional rhinoplasty – including minimal downtime, no anesthesia, fewer risks, and immediate results. While the changes made by a liquid rhinoplasty are temporary, how you care for your nose after this procedure can ensure your results last for as long as possible.

Non-surgical nose jobs can effectively enhance your appearance, and double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kristopher Hamwi can help you learn how to care for your nose to extend your results.

What Is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a procedure that uses dermal fillers and neuromodulators to enhance the appearance of the nose without the lengthy recovery and healing time associated with traditional rhinoplasty. With non-surgical rhinoplasty, you’ll notice an improvement right away, and there’s little to no interruption to your busy routine, but the results are temporary.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty can help patients who are looking to improve the appearance of:

  • Small bumps
  • Asymmetries
  • Contouring issues
  • Droopy tips

Dr. Hamwi doesn’t recommend this procedure for patients who:

  • Require drastic restorations, such as repairing severely crooked or broken noses
  • Need to correct breathing issues
  • Routinely wear heavy glasses

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Aftercare

Following a traditional rhinoplasty, patients must avoid wearing glasses for up to three months. A non-surgical rhinoplasty in Sarasota significantly reduces that timeframe to around one to two weeks. However, heavy prescription glasses can affect non-surgical rhinoplasty results by altering the filler shape. If you need to wear glasses to correct vision issues, please place them as lightly as possible on the bridge of your nose, and then only after your board-certified plastic surgeon has cleared you to do so.

After a liquid rhinoplasty, you should avoid a few activities for a while to ensure optimal results, including:

  • Wearing heavy glasses/sunglasses for four to six weeks
  • Applying makeup or topical skin care products for 24 hours
  • Exercising – no strenuous exercises for at least 48 hours, as it can worsen bruising
  • Excessive exposure to the sun or heat, such as saunas or hot yoga, for two weeks
  • Taking blood-thinning medications, which may increase bruising and lengthen your recovery
  • Moving, massaging, or applying pressure to the nose, as it can alter the filler shape
